English Speaking Dermatological Consultation in Milan

Medical Doctor, Dermatologist, Dermatologic Surgery in Milan

A dermatology consultation is a service provided by a dermatologist in a dermatology clinic, for patients who are seeking advice regarding existing problems that affect the skin, scalp, hair, nails, lips, mouth and genitals, many of which can be diagnosed by a simple physical examination.

Comprehensive Medical History and Physical exam are part of the consultation

Laboratory testing for age and risk

The dermatological consultation includes the focused dermatological history, clinical examination, description of findings, further investigations, and skin surgery techniques. Consideration of relevant general health and development, treatments, allergies, drug, family, and social history are also discussed. The assessment of quality of life and how to measure this within a consultation are included. Techniques for examination of the skin in adult and children and the role of dermoscopy are available. Skin changes in adult and children who are abnormally short, abnormally tall, obese, or with excessive weight loss (abnormal body habitus) are considered. A brief explanation of some common histopathological terms is given. Other skin investigations including Wood’s light examination, skin scrapings for mycology, patch testing, and prick testing for investigation of skin allergy are available.

Second Opinion

Often a question may arise concerning a specific treatment or therapy and a second opinion may be helpful in determining what is the preferred therapeutic choice.

Possible Risks and Complications

A dermatology consultation is a safe routine visit to a dermatologist for an existing or suspected dermatologic condition. In most cases, the visit only requires a physical examination and thus poses no risks and complications to the patient. In other cases, some laboratory tests may be required, such as a biopsy or surgical exeresis. These procedures may cause a bit of a discomfort but are guaranteed safe and can be done in just a few minutes. Seeking a consultation with a dermatologist, even when symptoms are mild, will help make treatment easier and will effectively reduce the potentially lasting effects of dermatological conditions on the affected body part, such as long-term damage to the skin, hair, nails, and so on.
